Davide Fore has reached the objectives he had set himself when he arrived in Portugal. On the Braga circuit, where he conquered one of his many World Champion titles, the Maranello driver climbed the second step of the podium twice and set the best absolute time of the weekend. Although his victory at the World Cup will remain an important moment in Davide Fore's 2008 season, the European Championship had not yet really fulfilled the Italian pilot's expectations. "I knew that my equipment was almost there" he commented "but I had not found all the right conditions to drink the champagne on the podium". Always there to motivate his team and stimulate it to do best, Davide used all his energies throughout the Portuguese round…

On Saturday morning, he confirmed the excellent performance achieved in free practice by gaining the pole position in timed qualifying. "It's the second time in a row after Mariembourg, or even the third, if we include Suzuka!" Always very fast on a single lap, Davide won both his two qualifying heats. This is what they call a perfect Saturday! Always very professional, the Italian driver followed the strategy defined by his team to the letter in the first of the two Sunday's finals.

"I compete for Maxter, which had the opportunity to win the European Championship with Arnaud Kozlinski. As a consequence, when I saw that he had made the best start in Race 1, I could not try and attack him. I managed to control the return of my compatriot Giacomello despite a slight temperature increase in my engine and we could celebrate this double Maxter success on the podium". In Race 2, the same scenario, but with a little off-key element. "Arnaud was forced to withdraw and Maxter lost the title six laps from the end. A real pity, because everything had gone just fine up to then". Again second on arrival, Davide has nothing to blame himself for during the weekend. "Jean-Philippe Guignet withdrew very early in Race 1 and he took advantage of his tyres in good conditions to win Race 2. This proves that Maxter engines were really at the top during the weekend".

Davide Fore finished his season in 4th place in the European KF1 Championship 2008. "I was 13th before Portugal, therefore I knew that it would be difficult for me to conquer the final podium. This is certainly a good result. But the most important thing is to know that with the Maranello team we currently can achieve a very high level of performances. With a view to the World Championship, this is really encouraging. But before that, we have to get ready for the World Cup for KZ1. Therefore we are planning a series of tests in the next few weeks, but I am also going back to my family to spend a few days with them".
